Johnson RydbergUniversity of Arkansas at Monticello women’s golfers Lauren Johnson and Frida Rydberg have earned their third straight selection to the All-Great American Conference team.

Johnson was named as a second-team selection, and Rydberg earned a honorable mention pick.

Johnson, a senior from Dewitt, has led the Arkansas-Monticello women’s golf team in every competition thus far in the spring season with finishes of second, third, fifth, and seventh.

Johnson’s best event this spring was at the Southern Bancorp Invitational in Mountain Home at the Big Creek Country Club, where she shot a 147 (71, 76) to finish in a tie for second place overall in the tournament. Her best tournament in the fall season occurred at the Henderson State Invitational in Hot Springs where she placed eighth overall with a two-round score of 160.

She was also named as a Crafton Tull Distinguished Scholar Athlete. She carries a 3.93 grade point average. She recently was named as a finalist for UAM’s female scholar athlete of the year award.

Rydberg, a junior from Jarfalla, Sweden, found much of her success this year during the fall season where she recorded finishes of first, third, and tenth overall. She was named the individual champion at the MIAA Fall Preview with an overall score of 148 (73, 75).

Rydberg also picked up an additional individual championship later in the fall, at the GAC Preview with round scores of 75 and 71 for a 146 total. Her second round score of 71 was also the best single round score the junior has posted as a Blossom.

Rydberg saw her best spring tournament this season a the Natural State Classic in Heber Springs with a fourth place finish after shooting 163 (83, 80) overall in the classic.
