Jose Cruz Mondragon, 71, of Hamburg, died June 4, 2021, in Crossett.

He was a native of Zacapu, Michoacan, Mexico, and a resident of Hamburg for 27 years.

Mr. Mondragon retired from logging and construction and was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and family gatherings. A wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was deeply loved and respected by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His wife of 52 years, Carmen Mondragon, preceded him in death by 14 days. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Seberino and Gabina Mondragon and a sister, Nicanor Mondragon.

He is survived by four sons, Antonio Mondragon, Odilon Mondragon, Fidel Mondragon and Seberino Mondragon, all of Hamburg; six daughters, Euliala Mondragon and Rosaria Mondragon both of Mexico, Maria Mondragon, Edelmira Mondragon, Griselda Mondragon and Maricruz Mondragon, all of Hamburg; a brother, Fidel Mondragon of Hamburg; five sisters, Gracia Mondragon, Selina Mondragon both of Mexico, Adelaida Mondragon of Hamburg, Rosa Mondragon of Mexico and Sara Mondragon of Lake Village; 44 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 7, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Stephen Hart as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jason Rodriguez, Melchor Mondragon, Carlos Ramirez, Sebastian Mondragon, Octaviano Mondragon and Cruz Mondragon.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 6 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., in the Chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg. Rosary at 6 p.m.
