The fifth annual Juneteenth celebration will be held Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16 at the Pine Street Park in Hamburg. The event will include a basketball tournament, parade, a talent show, volleyball, sack race, dunking booth, water slide, softball, cake walk, dominoes, food and entertainment.
The celebration will kick off at 5 p.m. Friday afternoon with a basketball tournament and concessions.There is no fee for teams to enter. To enter the tournament contact Charbonette Foster at (870) 940-0460.
On Saturday, June 16, the day’s events will start with the annual parade at 9 a.m. Parade participants will gather at the Ashley County Fairgrounds at 8 a.m. and travel along Pine Street to the park. All churches are asked to enter a van or vehicle along with any other participants.
Vendors will begin setting up at 7 a.m. There is no fee for vendors. The day’s general activities will include volleyball, a sack race, a dunking booth, water slide, softball, basketball, a cake walk, dominoes, vendors and concessions, a talent show and entertainment. Free hot dogs will be distributed at 1 p.m. followed by the keyspeaker, Charlie Vincent, at 2 p.m.
