Senior Theodor Karlsson led a field of 32 participants with a two-round score of 157 to highlight a team victory for the University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s golf team at the Buccaneer Spring Classic on Monday and Tuesday at the Germantown Country Club.
Karlsson shot an even par of 72 in the first round and followed up at 75 in the second round to finish two strokes ahead of second place finisher, Zack Morton of Freed-Hardeman.
As a team, the Weevils had four of its five countable participants finish in the top 10. Overall, UAM won the event by five strokes with a total of 602, finishing ahead of Freed-Hardeman (607), Christian Brothers (618), Southern Indiana (620) and Hannibal-LaGrange (647).
Following Karlsson, freshman Kinley Lee and senior Hunter Smith tied for third at 151 each. Both had scores of 75 and 76. Senior Ari Magnusson tied for eighth with scores of 76 and 77. Senior Billie Trawick tied for 15th at 79 and 77. Junior Bryan Witmer played unattached, and tied Magnusson for eighth place with scores of 79 and 75.
The Weevils are back in action at the Bear State Bank Invitational hosted by Henderson State at the Big Creek Country Club in Mountain Home, Arkansas April 4-5.
