Katherine Ann Sawyer, 77, of Crossett, died June 2, 2014 at the Ashley County Medical Center.
She was a native of the Longview community in Drew County, a retiree of Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill, and a member of Kingdom Builders Outreach Ministries. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and fishing.
Mrs. Sawyer was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Dewayne Sawyer; a daughter, Shirley Ann Hendrix; her parents: Green and Ouida Mae Miller Martin; a brother, MacArthur Martin; and three sisters, Earnestine Brooks, Christine Brown and Hazeline Foster.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Thomas “Tom” Sawyer; two daughters, Mary L. Sawyer of Crossett and Evelyn Sawyer-Forte of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, James Martin (wife Mary Jean) and Leroy Martin (wife Aquanetta), all of Crossett; three grandchildren, Anthony Dawkins and Sandy Sawyer-Williams both of Crossett, and Tyler W. Forte of Nashville, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Funeral services will be held June 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Davis Memorial C.O.G.I.C. with Rev. Curtis Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Quinn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Alfred James, Derrick Hayes, Cornelius Williams, Charlie Miller, Kenneth Childress & Cornelius Girtman. Honorary pallbearers are Anthony Brooks, Darryl Bryant, Anthony Dawkins and Tyler Forte.
Visitation is June 6 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cromwell Funeral Home.
