Katherine Lawson, 65 of Star City died on April 8, 2016 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
She was born on January 31, 1951 in Gould and was the daughter of the late Joe and Virginia Richmond Lawson.
She was the Lincoln County Clerk, a member of Westside Missionary Baptist Church and the 1968 valedictorian of Lincoln High School. After high school, Mrs. Lawson attended AM&N, Pines Vo-Tec and the University of Arkansas at Monticello, earning an Associate Degree in computers. She began working at the Lincoln County Courthouse in the early 1970s and worked her way up to County Clerk in 2002. She was a member of Arkansas County Clerks Association.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, John Adam Lawson and Joe Lawson; and a sister, Mary Lawson Rasheed.
Survivors include son, Joseph Lawson; daughter, Stephanie Lawson, both of Star City; four brothers, Willie Lawson of Star City, Laron Lawson of Star City, David Lawson of Bossier City, Louisiana and Fred Lawson of Star City; four sisters, Kim Darrough of Star City, Wanda Lawson of Monticello, Yvonne Rochelle of White Hall and Sherry Lawson of Star City; 12 grandchildren, Christopher Lawson, De’Andre Knight, Tristian Lawson, Darien Washington, J’Marea Lawson, Terani Lawson, T’lecia Lawson, Sydney Danyelle-Green, Ariel Urquhart, Braxton Green, Ryan Jones and Blake Jones; and 2 sisters-in-law, Queen Lawson and Barbara Lawson.
Funeral services will be held on April 16 at 10 a.m. at Westside Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Archie Dolls officiating.
Visitation is April 15 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City. Burial will be at Jones Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Gregory Gaines, Charles Hall, Sr., Joe Holloway, Kenneth Mallett, Sr., Stanton Jones, James Earl Spencer, Jr., Charles Dailey, Ralph Green, Jr. and Brad Dolls.
