Katherine Marie Jolley, 96, of Bedford, Texas, formerly of Lake Village, passed away on April 18, 2015 at Parkwood Health Care in Bedford, Texas.
She graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a teaching degree and then later went on to the University of Fayetteville where she received her master’s in teaching.
Mrs. Jolley retired 33 years from teaching after teaching in Japan, Texas and finally at Montrose Academy as principal for the 6th grade. She was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church in Lake Village.
She was born April 28, 1918 in McGehee to the late James and Maudie (Moss) Loyd.
Mrs. Jolley was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Jolley; a brother, Weaver and Barbara Loyd, two sisters, Frances and Bill Gray, and Louise and Elmo Neikirk.
Survivors are two sons, Robert L. Jolley (Patricia) of Evant, Texas, and James R. Jolley (Debbie) of North Richland Hills, Texas; a daughter, Anne Matney (John) of Geronimo, Texas; a brother, James Loyd (Jean) of Lake Village; and numerous grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held April 22 at 10 a.m. at Bishop-King Funeral Home in Lake Village. Burial will follow in McGehee Cemetery under the direction of Bishop-King Funeral Home of Lake Village.
