Kathryn Crist Sabbatini, 71, of Lake Village left this earth for her pain free home in Heaven on August 10, 2021, at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Kathryn was born November 3, 1949, in Brookfield, Missouri to the union of Harold Dean Crist and Dorothy Athelene (Lloyd) Crist.
Kathy was a 1968 graduate of McGehee High School and attended the University of Central Arkansas in Conway for two years where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority and a member of the UCA Stepperettes Drill Team. She finished her college years at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Kathy was a cheerleader and a member of the senior homecoming court while at UAM. She graduated in 1972 from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
Kathy and Butch were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on November 24, 1973 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Village. She worked as a dedicated kindergarten and first grade teacher in the Lakeside School District for 28 years. She has impacted many students through the years who still respect and cherish her today. Kathy was a member of the OLOL Ladies Alter Society and a member of the Lake Village Junior Auxiliary.
Kathy was faced with a grim diagnosis of cancer in 2000, however, her identical twin, Karen, donated her stem cells to Kathy to help cure her of cancer. Kathy’s strong love of life and will to survive gave her twenty-one more years to spend with those she loved. Kathy enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and family, tending her flowers, playing tennis, shopping, fishing with her husband, and most of all being Nana to her granddaughters who she loved dearly.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Guy Buster ”Butch” Sabbatini Jr. of Lake Village; one son, Guy Dean “Dino” Sabbatini and wife Sarah (Poole), of Lake Village; daughter, Lori Sabbatini Berry and husband, Dr. John Hunter Berry of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; two sisters, identical twin, Karen Ann Brogdon and husband, Charles Brogdon of Lebanon, Missouri and Susan Dee Bakel of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Gregory Dean Crist and wife Joan Crist of Columbia, Missouri; brother-in-law, Ronnie Sabbatini and wife, Melva Hula Sabbatini of Hazen; granddaughters, Ann Marie Sabbatini of Lake Village, Loxley Elle Berry of Hattiesburg, and Georgia Kathryn Sabbatini of Lake Village; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Dean Crist and Dorothy Athelene (Lloyd) Crist and her step-Father, Raymond Pace.
Special thanks to the UAMS Cancer Institute, especially Dr. Frits van Rhee, and the staff of the UAMS Infusion Center who treated her for 17 years with excellence of care.
A walkthrough visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Bishop-King Funeral Home followed by a Holy Rosary. A private Mass of Christian burial for the immediate family will be held following the rosary and a public graveside service will follow at 11:45 a.m. at Saint Isidore Catholic Cemetery in Lake Village with Father Stephen Hart as Celebrant. Masking and social distancing is encouraged.
