Kevin Price, senior associate athletics director for external operations at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, S.D., has been named director of athletics at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Price’s background in athletics administration includes stops at Louisiana-Monroe, California-Riverside, Baylor, Oregon State, Santa Clara, Texas Christian, Texas and California-Berkeley.

“I am pleased that Kevin Price has agreed to take a leadership role in our program of intercollegiate athletics,” said UAM Chancellor Karla Hughes. “He possesses the combination of experience in both athletic fund raising and the day-to-day operation of a university athletic department that we felt were critical for this position. I look forward to his leadership as we strive to build a successful program for our student-athletes, our fans and alumni.”

In addition to directing the external operations at SDSM&T, Price was also executive director of the Hardrock Club, the school’s private athletic fund-raising organization. During his two years in Rapid City, Price helped increase the athletic donor base 26 percent his first year, increased corporate sponsorship by 20 percent, established a $2.5 million endowment for men’s and women’s golf, received a $1.1 million gift for men’s and women’s basketball scholarships, and launched a $500,000 campaign for football scholarships.

“This is a wonderful opportunity and I am excited to be a part of Boll Weevil and Cotton Blossoms athletics,” said Price. “UAM has a rich tradition in intercollegiate athletics and I am privileged to be a part of that tradition as we move forward.”

Prior to taking the South Dakota position, he served as deputy director of athletics at Louisiana-Monroe from 2013-17. He was senior associate athletics director at Cal-Riverside from 2011-13, associate athletics director at Baylor from 2005-11, associate athletics director at Oregon State (2002-05), and assistant athletics director at Santa Clara (2000-02).
