The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will hold a public meeting at Simmons Bank in Lake Village on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. to present the plans for the 2019 Lake Chicot drawdown.

The lake will be drawn down six feet beginning Monday July 8. It is expected to take six weeks. Gates will be closed until January 1, 2020. During this time creel limits will be cut in half. The drawdown concentrates prey and predator species, allowing both to have a good spawn the following spring. It also allows property owners to make dock repairs or build new docks.
