District 10 State Rep. Sheilla Lampkin has won a second term in the state Legislature but this time she will be representing a different district.
In the general election Tuesday night, the retired classroom teacher from Monticello, defeated Gary Meggs, the director of bands at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
She is a Democrat. Meggs is a Republican.
Lampkin won the election with 57 percent of the vote, carrying both Drew and Ashley counties. She carried Drew County with 60 percent of the vote and Ashley County with 54 percent of the vote.
The complete, unofficial district-wide result was:
Lampkin 5,808 (57 percent)
Meggs 4,319 (43 percent)
The county-by-county vote was:
Lampkin – 3,129 (60.3 percent)
Meggs – 2,059 (39.7 percent)
Lampkin – 2,679 (54.2 percent)
Meggs – 2,260 (45.7 percent)
