Lanier Clingman Carson, 97, of Monticello, passed away April 8, 2021.
She was born February 26, 1924 to the late Arthur Alexander Clingman and Bennie Mae Pearson.
She ran a clothing store alongside the Carson’s Grocery & Market for several years, and enjoyed planting flowers, reading, and cooking for her family. She was the family historian, and her family pictures and heirlooms were very dear to her heart. She especially loved her time with the Wilma Hankins Circle at the First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jack Dunham Carson, whom she married February 27, 1945 in Tacoma, Washington; two brothers, Arthur Clingman, Jr. (Buddy) of California and Bobby Pearson Clingman of Lubbock Texas; three sisters, Sue Carolyn Clingman of Warren, Wanda Clingman Gardner of Monticello, and Arthurline Clingman of Austin, Texas.
Survivors include her son, Richard Carson and wife Karen of Monticello; granddaughter Melanie Carson Reynolds and husband Ricky of Conway; and honorary grandson, Jeff Carmical of Monticello. She also leaves many cousins and friends that she adored.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First United Methodist Women’s Circle of Monticello. There will be a private graveside service in Oakland Cemetery.
