Larry Wayne McGee

Larry Wayne McGee, 67, of Star City passed away February 19, 2022 at his home.

He was born September 24, 1954 in Monticello to the late Austin and Marie Burns McGee.

Mr. McGee was a Baptist and served in the United States Marine Corp. as a military policeman. He loved his family, especially his kids and grandkids and spending time with family at the deer camp.

Larry started his 45-year career in law enforcement as a Star City patrolman, before spending 25 years as a lieutenant with the Pine Bluff Police Department, serving as a detective in the motor brigade and as commander for the Tri County Drug Task Force.

After his retirement, he was elected Lincoln County Sheriff and remained in that position until his second retirement.

Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Kelly McGee and a brother, Terry McGee.

Survivors include his wife whom he married June 2, 1976, Dr. Brenda Cogbill McGee; two daughters, Lorie McGee Henley (Brad) and Libby McGee; one brother, Buddy McGee (Dianne); and two sisters, Carolyn Capps (Charles) and Barbara Calhoun (Myron), all of Star City. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Katie Henley, Grant Henley, Isabella Graves and Kellie Graves.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 21, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Griffin Funeral Service Chapel in Star City.

Services will be Tuesday, February 22, at 10 a.m. at the Griffin Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. J.C. Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Springs Cemetery at Coleman (Drew County).

Pallbearers will be Darren McGee, Kenneth Davis, David Parker, Kenneth Tillman, Kris Nichols, Tym Montgomery, Merwin Fowler and Johnathan Blake.
