Laura Elizabeth Gotscholl Cingolani, 84, of McGehee, passed away on September 18, 2016 with her son Doyle by her side at Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village.
Mrs. Cingolani was born on April 25, 1932 in Carrollton, Ohio to the late Forrest and Elizabeth Gotscholl. She and her late husband, Nelson Primo Cingolani were married on October 7, 1950. They relocated with their children several times, from Carrollton, Ohio to Petersburg, Indiana and Paris, Illinois before settling in McGehee with their son, Doyle, when Mr. Cingolani retired.
Mrs. Cingolani helped her husband manage Nelson’s Dairy Bar, Cingolani Farm Supply Store and Big Bens 24 hour truck stop on Highway 65. After her husband’s death, she worked at McGehee High School as a cook until she retired.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGehee and a former member of St. Mary’s Church in Paris, Illinois.
Laura will be remembered as a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, an avid flower gardener and a very creative craftsman. Her car always stopped at garage sales. She will be sadly missed by her children, grand-children, great-grandchildren, and by her beloved dog, Max.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Cingolani; brothers, Forrest Junior, Glenn and Timothy Gotscholl and her son, Randy Cingolani.
Survivors include her daughter, Anita Ann Cingolani (Martin) Rhodes of Paris, Illinois; her son, Doyle Cingolani of McGehee; a daughter-in-law, Shelia Cingolani, the widow of Randy Cingolani; grandchildren, Johna Jo Rhodes (Jim) Todd, Dusty and Brittany Rhodes all of Paris, Illinois, and Cara Cingolani (Justin) Matheny of McGehee; great-grandchildren, Colton Keeney, Whitney Todd, Clayton Rhodes and Ty Rhodes all of Paris, Illinois; Carson, Jake and Rhett Matheny of McGehee.
Visitation will be held on September 21 from 5-7 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee. Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. on September 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGehee with Father Mark Abban officiating. Burial will follow at St. Isadora Cemetery in Lake Village.
