Laura Morphis of Dermott will display her senior art exhibit at the University of Arkansas at Monticello April 10-16 in the Spencer Gallery of the UAM Fine Arts Center.
A reception and artist’s talk will be held April 10 at 3 p.m. in the Gallery. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
Morphis calls her exhibit “Vanitas,” which includes paintings and drawings contrasting life and death. Vanitas was a northern European baroque still painting movement that utilized symbolic images to illustrate the ephemeral nature of life.
