Laverne Lytle Quimby, 93, of Monticello, passed away on March 18, 2017 at her home in Monticello.
She was born March 14, 1924 in Dumas and was the daughter of the late Esten Lytle and Alva Lack Lytle.
Mrs. Quimby was the widow of Charles Quimby, a retired beautician and member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Upon graduation from Pine Bluff Cosmetology School, she worked as a beautician at the POW (Japanese Camp) fixing hair for the WAC. She was the owner and operator of Laverne’s Beauty Shop in Monticello for 60 years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Nell Thomas and one nephew, Billy Ray Thompson.
Survivors include one son, Kerry Gene Hackney of Monticello; one niece-in-law, Marilyn Thompson of Tyler, Texas; two great nephews, Eric Thompson and wife Elyse of Denver Colorado and Brian Thompson and wife Erin of Tyler, Texas; and two first cousins, Ann Lytle Rabb and Ronnie Lytle both of Monticello.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
