Laverne Spikes, 97, of Little Rock, formerly of Crossett, died November 6, 2020.
She was born December 12, 1922 in Hamburg, the daughter of the late Houston and Myrtis Patrick.
Laverne was a graduate of Hamburg High School and lived most of her adult life in Crossett where her husband, Hanks, owned and operated Spikes Drug Store. Laverne was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Crossett.
Laverne is survived by her two daughters, Beverly Moseley of Little Rock and Pam Spikes of Hot Springs Village; two grandchildren, Nicole Moseley Watts of Little Rock and John Hanks Mosley of Fayetteville; three great grandchildren, Atticus, Zoe and Noah of Little Rock; her sister, Betty Dodson of Crossett; niece, Sherri Dodson of Pine Bluff and nephew, Stephen Dodson of Crossett.
Laverne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Hanks; her brother-in-law, Rex Dodson; her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Millie Spikes.
Graveside services will be held at Pinewood Memorial Park at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020 with Bro. David Newberry officiating. Pallbearers are Elton Dumas, Ben Johnson, Searcy Thomas, Billy Gammel, and Joe Moseley. Honorary pallbearer is James Russell. Visitation will follow the service at the cemetery.
