LaVon Riley Miller, 95, of Hamburg, died on November 28, 2019, in Crossett.
She was a native of Ashley County who returned to Hamburg in 2006 after living in California, Oklahoma, and Little Rock. She was a homemaker and she worked in the shipyards in California during World War II.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Judson Missionary Baptist Church. Over the past 20 years, she made and assembled thousands of the Cross in a Pocket. The Cross in a Pocket comes with a poem that has been translated into many different languages and distributed by missionaries around the world.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archer “Doc” Miller in 1992; her parents, Bill and Novella Morrow Riley; three sisters, Pauline Riley Estelle, Jayne Riley Allen, and Mattie Pearl Riley Kilcrease and three brothers, Arthur Riley, Kenneth Riley, and Floyd Riley.
She is survived by a stepson, Lenny Miller of Springfield, Missouri; a brother, Billy Riley and wife, Irene, of Fountain Hill; 11 nieces and six nephews and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, December 2, at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Bro. Buddy Boykin officiating. Burial will be at the Shady Grove Cemetery in DeQueen, Arkansas.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Monday in the funeral home.
