Leo Nelms, 64, of Mist, died on February 16, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.

Mr. Nelms was a native and life long resident of Ashley County. He was a timber worker and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Snyder. He loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed being outdoors and mud riding and hunting were his passion.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Nelms in 2009; a daughter, Emmily Nelms; his parents, John and Emma Streeter Nelms; and a brother, Cecil Nelms.

He is survived by his wife, Jody Tanksley Nelms of Mist; two sons, Alan Tew and wife, Kelli, of Montrose and James Tanksley and wife, Jazmine, of Mist; six daughters, Stacy Cessor and husband, Clay, of Portland, Jenny Tanksley and husband, Raymond, of Lake Village, Melissa Nelms of Crossett, Brandy Thomas and husband, Sean, of Monticello, Amy Hickam and husband, Joshua, of Crossett and Misty Serie of New Orleans, Louisiana; four brothers, A. B. Nelms and Jackie Nelms both of Snyder, Frankie Nelms and Curtis Nelms both of Crossett; three sisters, Betty Sue King of Vaiden, Mississippi, Marcelle Buckner and Kathy Tanksley both of Hamburg; 33 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 19 at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Snyder with Bro. John Calvin Martin officiating. Burial will be at the Snyder Cemetery.

Pallbearers are David Nelms, J.D. Nelms, Ricky Nelms, Bryan Nelms, Ray Nelms, James Nelms, Roger Nelms and Mart Nelms. Honorary pallbearers are John Paul Kelley, J.J. Elmore, Kevin Barfield, Macky Williams, Steven Nelms and Ronnie Nelms.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
