Leola McHenry, 77, of Hamburg died February 18, 2014 at her residence in Hamburg.
Mrs. McHenry was a devoted stay-at-home mother and an active member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She loved Sunday School, morning worship services and she enjoyed going on church outings, especially the seniors’ trip to Monroe. She had a love for people.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim McHenry and Annie Mae Savage; four brothers, Tom Hick, Jesse Brown, Marice Hicks and Willie B. Savage; five sisters, Quinnie Neval, Ella Lewis, Essie Mae Caldwell, Louisa McHenry and Hazel Mae Caldwell.
She is survived by a son, Chester Savage of Hampton, Virginia; a daughter, Lucy Hulett and husband, Arthur, of Crossett; a brother, Jimmy McHenry of Crossett; two sisters, Cora Mae Caldwell and Queen Ester Hamilton both of Crossett; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation is February 21 from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg.
Funeral services will be held February 22 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. W.R. Taylor officiating. Burial will be at Childress Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Lawrence Booker, Jessie Cooke, John Ware, Chester Owens, Roosevelt Simpson and James Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Leotis Akins, Willie Sellers, James Sellers, Paul Sellers, George Morris, Edward Morris, Ken L. Morris and the Deacons of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
