Lester Henley, 87, of Dumas, passed away on January 28, 2016 in Monticello.

He was a Baptist and a retired farmer. He made many friends during his life, because he was a very jovial man who loved to laugh and have a good time. He had a happy and friendly personality that drew people to him, He loved talking to people and never forgot his friends. And above all, he loved his wife, Willene.

Me. Henley was born on February 22, 1928 in Drew County and was the son of the late, G.L. Henley and Mattie Leonard Henley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mack and J.L. Henley and three sisters, Eunice Snyder Erma Lee Creighton and Willie Mae Gibson preceded him in death.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Willene Cruce of Monticello; step-daughter, Sherry O’Neill-Rawls; brother, Paul Henley of Dumas; many nieces and nephews, six step-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren, and  many nieces and nephews, also.

Visitation is January 30 from 5 p.m. until 7 .p.m. at Griffin Funeral Home in Dumas. Funeral services will be held on January 31, at 2 p.m.. at the funeral home with Rev. Fay Collins officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Springs Cemetery at Coleman.
