A Drew County jury on Monday sentenced Level 4 sex offender James Green, Jr. to 45 years in prison for failure to notify authorities of his change of address and living less than 2,000 feet from a daycare.
Green, of Monticello, received a 30-year prison sentence and $250 fine for failure to register and 15-year sentence and $250 fine for living near a daycare.
Eighth Judicial District Circuit Judge William Randal Wright, of Hope, who presided at Green’s trial after all of the 10th Judicial District Circuit judges recused from the case, accepted the jury’s recommendation and ordered the two sentences to run consecutive.
Tenth Judicial District Deputy Prosecutor Andrew Best tried the case for the state. Jack Kearney, of Little Rock, represented Green.
Green is also facing unrelated charges in connection with an alleged conspiracy to illegally distribute prescription narcotics.
