She was born on October 27, 1940 at Hope and was the daughter of the late Duncan Wallace and Nollie Kathryn Bush Nichols.
Linda was a resident of Crossett most of her life, an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and a Beta Sigma Phi member at large of the Xi Alpha Omega Chapter. Over the years she worked at various places including Georgia Pacific in the payroll department, Industrial Mill and Maintenance Supply, and eventually retired from Smart Corp. at the Ashley County Medical Center in 2013.
She loved wearing sparkly jewelry, going shopping, singing in the church choir, attending concerts, and was a genuine Elvis fan for most of her life. She was a sweet, silly person who loved everyone, especially her grandchildren and her dog, Slugger.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Harley Preston “Bob” Roam, and one brother, Duncan Wallace Nichols, II.
She is survived by one daughter, Tonya Cooper and husband, Corky, of Crossett; four grandchildren, Zachary N. Cooper, and Easton Grey Cooper also of Crossett, Chance Cooper of Fayetteville, Kristyn Cooper Chenault and husband, Brian, of Sicily, Italy; three great-grandchildren, Cade, Brennan, and Archer Chenault also of Sicily.; one brother, Gary W. Nichols and wife, Sharon, of Sun City, Arizona;. and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, May 3, at 2 p.m., at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1533 Hwy 52 W, Crossett, with Bro. Eric Hodge and Bro. David Tohlen officiating. Interment will be at Outlaw Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
