Hannah James, a Monticello High School student sponsored by the Lions Club to attend Girls State, told the club about her experience at Girls State during the club’s July 5 meeting. James said there were more than 800 girls from all over Arkansas at the week-long convention where James was elected to several offices including City Attorney, County Secretary, and as a Senator to the Capital Congress held in Little Rock. She also met a number of state lawmakers and Gov. Mike Beebe during the convention. James is a senior at Monticello High School where she has a 4.07 grade point average and is active in a number of school and church activities. She is interested in pursuing a career in international corporate law. James is pictured, second from left, with her mother, Deborah James, and her grandparents, Juanita and Jerry Webb.
