Louis Ricks, Sr., 79, of Snyder, died June 16, 2014 at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village.
He was a native and life long resident of Ashley County.
Mr. Ricks was a retired automotive and farm equipment mechanic and he was a member of Aulds Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved working in his garden.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Geneva Crow Ricks.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Strother Ricks; a son, Tommy Ricks both of Snyder; three daughters, Verna Ferry of Monticello; Nancy Turner of Gillett and Brenda Sedberry of Hamburg; a brother, E.W. Ricks of Hamburg; a special sister-in-law, Wanda Paes of North Little Rock; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held June 19 at 10 a.m. at the Aulds Baptist Church with Bro. Ray Williams and Bro. Sammy Land officiating. Burial will be in the Portland Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Lamar Vestal, Austin Vestal, Brian Fleetwood, Clayton Sedberry, Dale Caine, Franklin Ricks, Ronnie (Peanut) Kelley and Ronnie Rice. Honorary pallbearers are Rodney Ricks, Scottie Williamson and Jarrod Stahley.
Visitation will be held June 18 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
