Tanya Loveless, Drew County’s executive deputy collector, garnered 69 percent of the vote in Tuesday night’s runoff election to win the Democratic nomination for Drew County Collector.
Loveless received 1,149 votes while her opponent, Josh Frost received 525 votes.
Loveless advances to the November general election where she faces Republican Andrea Huskey who was unopposed in her bid for the Republican nomination.
Last year, the Arkansas Legislature split the combined sheriff and collector position in Drew County, creating the separate tax collector position as it is in many Arkansas counties.
In 2013, when the new collector takes office that person will be the first in Drew County to hold the sole collector position.
