Madge Huitt York, 83, of Hermitage, died April 24, 2014 at Star City.

She was a retired school teacher who taught at the Wilmot, Vick and Hermitage school districts.

Mrs. York was born November 26, 1930 at Ingalls and was the daughter of the late Oscar W. Huitt and Lola Baker Huitt.

She graduated from Vick High School and attended Arkansas A & M earning a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Education. After retirement she worked as liberian for the Southeast Arkansas Regional Library System in Warren. She was a member of the Hermitage Baptist Church and a Bradley County Medical Center Ladies Auxillary.

Also preceding her in death was her husband Paul David York and a brother, Royce Wilford Huitt.

Survivors include her son, David York and wife Connie of Jefferson; a daughter, Chrystola Tullos of Rison; two brothers, Jerry Huitt of Ingalls and Jimmy Huitt of Glencoe. Minn.; a sister Lizzie Best of Hermitage; five grandchildren, Tanya Strader, Tara York, Trinity Brown, Jesse Tullos and Wendy Walmsley; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held April 28 at 2 p.m. at Frazer’s Chapel with Revs. Ty Huitt and Wayman Mann officiating.
