The nationally acclaimed University of Arkansas at Monticello Jazz Combo will be the featured artists when the Main Street Bistro of First Presbyterian Church in Monticello hosts a special Valentine’s Day Party for the community on February 18.
The six-member UAM Jazz Combo has been thrilling audiences wherever they play their unique blend of traditional and contemporary jazz. The group has earned top honors at collegiate jazz festivals; most notably at the prestigious Elmhurst Jazz Festival in Chicago last winter. Former members of this elite group have graduated from UAM and gone to top-tier graduate programs across the country and have performed with some of the nation’s most prominent jazz and popular artists.
“Southeast Arkansas is very fortunate to have one of the premier undergraduate jazz studies programs in the entire nation right in our own back yard at UAM,” said Bistro music coordinator Frank Ferguson. “We are thrilled to be able to bring this outstanding group of young musicians to Main Street Bistro and to give them this unique venue in which to perform.”
