Mainline Health Systems was named Business of the Year Monday night during the annual co-banquet of the Monticello-Drew County Chamber of Commerce and Monticello Economic Development Commission.
“We are very honored by this recognition,” said Mainline Health Systems CEO Allan Nichols. “We would like to thank our patients who put their trust in us and allowed us to serve them. We also would like to thank the Mainline Board of Directors who volunteer their time to serve the communities where they live. They are dedicated to our mission and are always trying to help more people in a deeper way.”
Nichols reserved his final comments for his team. “Thank you to the greatest team I can imagine,” he said. “You work every day to be better and do more. You too are dedicated to our mission of service.”

The award came just an hour or so after Mainline hosted an open house and ribbon cutting for its new 15,000 square-foot facility in Monticello. “We are very proud of our new clinic to better serve the people of Monticello and the surrounding communities,” Nichols said.
Mainline was established in 1978 by a group of agricultural leaders in Portland (Ashley County) who wanted access to healthcare for people in their community. It has grown from its one location in Portland, to six medical clinics, three dental clinics and 10 school-based health clinics in Southeast Arkansas.
Mainline’s mission has remained the the same since its inception: To provide access to healthcare to everyone.
Mainline established its clinic in Monticello in 2010. The community had a need that Mainline helped fulfill. The clinic then had only two providers and was located behind the hospital.
As Mainline’s patient growth in Monticello increased, the need for an expansion became more pressing. That growth continued and they soon outgrew their building. Their new building has more than 15,000 square-feet with room for expansion of services to better serve the people of Monticello and the surrounding communities.
Mainline in Monticello now has three medical providers, two psychiatric providers, one pediatrician, a behavioral health team and lab/xray staff.
The Monticello Mainline won four national awards in 2017 for high level performance: The Clinical Quality Improver Award, Health Center Quality Leaders Award, Enhancing Access to Care Award and Addressing Health Disparities Award. Mainline is also a NCQA recognized level 3 patient centered medical home.
Mainline is a 501c3 non profit governed by a board of directors made up of its patients representing every area it serves.
Mainline’s role in the healthcare community is to respond to the needs of the people and Mainline’s board and staff is dedicated as ever to delivering on this mission.
