Mardelle Crawford Henley, 78, of Monticello, passed away on May 13, 2016 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.
She was a retired school teacher, secretary, librarian and homemaker. She was a graduate of Arkansas A&M (now UAM). For 18 years, she had been a member of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church, the church she and her husband attended when they both were in college.
Mrs. Henley was born March 3, 1938 in Hamburg, to the late Elbert Oliver Crawford and Sue Jackson Crawford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years James Phillip Henley of Monticello; two sons, Mark Henley of Portland, Maine and Brent Henley and wife Sherrita of Plano, Texas; a sister, Maedean Crawford Shivers of Crossett; two grandsons, Richard Henley Powers of North Carolina and Aidyn Henley of Plano, Texas; a sister-in-law Melba Wilkins of Crossett; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on May 17 at 2 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation is May 16 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
