Margaret Miles Thompson, 74, of Monticello, passed away on March 10, 2018 at her home.
She was born on April 7, 1943 in Camden to the late Richard Rudy Miles and Ruth Everett Miles.
Mrs. Thompson retired with seven years of service with the Arkansas Department of Education as a literacy specialist after teaching first grade at W. C. Whaley Elementary for more than 20 years. She was also a reading recovery teacher at W. C. Whaley.
She was a people person, enjoyed teaching and visiting, and was involved in numerous activities at First Presbyterian Church where she was a member. She was very dedicated to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grand-momma and grandmother to her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by a sister, Ginger Miles.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Thompson of Monticello; two daughters, Sarah Culpepper and husband Jimmy of Woodlawn and Jennifer Elledge and husband Ryan of Little Rock; two grandsons, William and James Elledge; two granddaughters, Britany Bawcom and Abigail Hycox; two brothers, Richard Miles and wife Karen of Ft. Worth, Texas and Charles K. Miles and wife Diane of Mobile, Alabama; two sisters, Wanda Kulbeth and husband Del of Lafayette, Louisiana and Marsha Dunlap and husband Keith of Atlanta, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 12 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello.
