Margie Ann Griffis Gardner

Margie Ann Griffis Gardner, 75, of Crossett, passed away on September 15, 2017, at her home.

She was born on January 2, 1942, to her parents, J.C., and Lillie Pearl Morgan Griffis. During her early years, her family resided in Bastrop, Louisiana and eventually made Crossett their permanent home.

Mrs. Gardner was a Baptist and a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Her kind and empathetic soul was evident in everything she did, including visiting “shut-ins” and volunteering to help feed the families of her fellow church members after a loss. She was a homemaker who enjoyed exercising at the gym, travelling to see her grandchildren, going on church trips, and visiting with her café groups.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lonnie Fred Gardner; three sisters, Connie Ruth Scroggins, Frances Frisby, and infant, Mary Griffis; and one brother, Charlie Griffis.

She is survived by two sons, Keith Gardner and wife, Janla, of Crossett, and Alan Gardner and wife, Khanh, of Baton Rouge, LA; one daughter, Vicki Wells and husband, Alan, of Fountain Valley, CA; four brothers, Floyd Griffis and wife, Vela, of Crossett, John Henry Griffis and wife, Nelda, of Kerrville, TX, Jackie Griffis and wife, Shirley, of Cove City, TX, and Paul Douglas Griffis and wife, Dawn, of Crossett; seven grandchildren, Kyle Gardner, Kevin Gardner, Kristina Torres, Loni Carter, Joseph Gardner, Gabe Gardner, and Bella Gardner; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 18th at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1533 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett with Pastors Eric Hodge and David Tohlen officiating, followed by an interment at Unity Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Kyle Gardner, Kevin Gardner, Joseph Gardner, Kyle Griffis, Mike Scroggins, Tommy Scroggins, Mike Ogden, and David Ogden. Honorary Pallbearers are Ms. Margie’s Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 17 at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett.
