Margie Ballard Cox, 90, of Parkdale, died on November 30, 2014 at the Belle View Estates Rehabilitation and Care Center in Monticello.
Mrs. Cox was a native of Marianna and a resident of Parkdale for the past 67 years. She was a homemaker and a nurses aide at the Memphis Hospital while her husband was in the Army Air Force. She was a member of the Parkdale Baptist Church and she was an avid gardener.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dewel Hale Cox in 2004; a grandson, William “Hale” Luker in 2008; a son-in-law, Robert Luker and her parents, John and Neva Hawke Ballard.
She is survived by two daughters, Nita Williamson and husband, Johnny, of Parkdale and Brenda Luker Kendrick and husband, Ken, of Monticello; two brothers, George Ballard and Charles “Buddy” Ballard both of Marianna; two grandsons, Dewel Williamson and wife, Cathy, and Jerod Williamson and wife, Patricia, and two great-grandsons, Derik Williamson and John Curtis “J.C.” Williamson.
Funeral services will be held on December 2 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Revs. Carl Mason and Sanders Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Cleveland Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jerod Williamson, Derik Williamson, Franklin Ricks, Keith Ladd, Michael Miller and Chris Hicks. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Williamson, Ken Kendrick, J.C. Williamson, Ron Miller and Dewel Williamson.
