Mrs. Ellison was a homemaker and an active member of the Baptist Church all her life, except when she retired and moved across the street from her daughter, Pat, and attended church with her. When she moved to Crossett, she was a member of South Main Baptist Church the rest of her life.
Mrs. Ellison was active in Eastern Star in her early life and was a professional cake decorator for 35 years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting and all types of arts and crafts. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was born on October 25, 1918 in Alba, Texas and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Iva Bowden Willis.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ruel Lawrence (Dink) Ellison, her daughter, Barbara Ruth Ellison and three grandsons, Paul and David Smith and Robert Myers, her parents, four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include three daughters, Pat Smith and husband, Rev. Donald Smith, of Strong, Connie Myers and Dona Lowe and husband, Phillip, of Crossett; one sister, Lovie Hamilton of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held August 22 at 10 a.m. at South Main Baptist Church with Bro. Lyle Hern and Rev. Donald Ray Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Visitation will be held August 21 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
