Martha Howell Bell, 86 of Lake Village, February 2, 2014 at her residence in Lake Village.
Mrs. Bell worked many years for Sears, retiring in 1984. She was a faithful member of Leawood Baptist Church in Memphis where she taught Sunday School. Her grandchildren brought the greatest joy to her life.
She was born October 8, 1927, in Becker, Miss. and was the daughter of the late Mancel and Ellie Hill Howell.
She grew up in Aberdeen, Miss. where she graduated from high school. She then moved to Memphis, Tenn. to attend Miller Hawkins Business School. It was there she met her husband of 58 years, Devon Bell. They made their home in Memphis for over 50 years until declining health brought them to Lake Village to live with their son.
In addtion to her parents, she was preceded in death by her her husband, and a great-grandson, Pruitt Marshall.
Survivors include her three children, Susan Marshall (Rev. Wayne Marshall) of Olive Branch, Miss., Rev. Mike Bell (Melinda) of Lake Village, and Marla Ledbetter (Rev Terry Ledbetter) of Tupelo, Miss.; 10 grandchildren, Rev. Jason Marshall (Jennifer) of Corinth, Miss., Jessica Gregory (Ray) of Clinton, Miss., Joy Ross (Rev. George Ross) of New Orleans, La., Rev. Brian Bell (Allissa) of Bend, Oregon, Traci Clardy (Rev. James Clardy) of Cato, Miss., Allison Pettiette (Michael) of Lake Village, Angela Coronado (Daniel) of Jefferson City, Mo., Amy Ekis (Rev. Robert Ekis) of Pontotoc, Miss., Rev. Andrew Ledbetter (Blaine) and Aaron Ledbetter (Erin) all of Tupelo, Miss.; her sister, Shirley Pruett (Billy) of Aberdeen, MSiss.; and 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be fro10 am to service time at the church. Funeral services will be held February 4 at 11 a.m. at Lake Village Baptist Church in Lake Village, AR with Rev. Mike Bell and Rev. Wayne Marshall officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.
Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee is assisting with arrangements in Arkansas while Forrest Hill Funeral Home is entrusted with burial.
