Mary Jane Kennedy Grassi, 81, of Lake Village, formerly of Crossett, passed away on September 27, 2017 at Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation in Crossett.
She was the co-owner of Pierce-Grassi Lumber Company for years and taught school for 35 years in the Crossett School District where she was the 1992 Teacher of the Year. She had a masters degree in education and was a lifelong member Delta Zeta and a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
Mrs. Grassi was born on October 16, 1935 in Aurora, Missouri to the late Charles Wilkes Kennedy and Monta Marie Pierce.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles V. Grassi, Sr., and a brother Corky Kennedy.
Survivors include a son, Charles V. Grassi Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Crossett; two daughters, Monta Kay Robert and husband, Harvey of West Monroe, Louisiana and Charlotte Phillips and husband, Fred of Alix, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Betsy (Timothy) Dilmore, Shea Grassi, Megan (Dakota) Bailey, Lexie (Allen) King, and Dougan Phillips; and three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Paisley, and Jace.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, September 29, with rosary at 6 p.m. at Bishop-King Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Village.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 30 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Crossett with Father Theophilus Okpara as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Pinewoods Cemetery in Crossett under the direction of Bishop-King Funeral Home of Lake Village.
