Mary Janette Nichols, 77, of Dumas, passed away on May 19, 2019 in Little Rock.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dumas where she served on several committees. She was homemaker and a member of several clubs in the community, including Beta Sigma Phi, Highway Garden Club, Red Hat Society, Dumas Business Women, DMA (Don’t Mention Age) and Keenagers.
She was born on January 19, 1942 in Kelso to the late L.B. and Thelma Ferguson Mangum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Nichols; a son, Greg Nichols; a brother, Kenneth Mangum; and a sister, Velma Millerd.
She is survived by a daughter, Rachel N. Freeman (John) of Dumas; a brother, Floyd Mangum (Pat) of Monticello; a sister, Carolyn Sledge (Jerry Don) of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Jeremy Nichols, John Frank Freeman and Jack Cole Freeman; two great grandchildren, Charles Gregory Nichols and Rhett Lee Nichols all of Dumas; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Dumas, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., also at the church. Burial will be at the Walnut Lake Cemetery. Rev. Dubs Byers will officiate.
