Mary Lou Hunter Mahurin, 83, of Star City passed away on January 25, 2020 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
She was born on September 13, 1936 in Detroit Michigan to the late Howard and Myrtie Rector Harrison.
She was a retired secretary, a member of the First Baptist Church in Star City, a member of the Lincoln County EHC where she was secretary/treasurer and had been a member for over 25 years. She had a love of music and played numerous string instruments. She was also a skilled artist. Mary Lou was known as a selfless God-fearing woman who always put others first.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Hunter, and a brother, James “Jim” Harrison.
Survivors include her husband, John Mahurin of Star City, a son, Howard Hunter (Ashley) of Star City; a daughter, Jill McCathran (Eric) of Shreveport Louisiana; and three stepdaughters, Sandy Cockrell (Mike) of Rogers, Joni Free (Tommy) of Searcy, and Kim Wise (Bobby) of Ocala, Florida.
Other Survivors include seven grandchildren, Zachary McCathran, Matthew McCathran, Audrey Bush, Tyler Hunter, Landon Hunter, Braden Hunter, Cash Hunter, three step grandchildren, Cole, Caleb and Gracie Muckleroy, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 29 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Marcus Rogers officiating. Burial will be at the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
