Matthew Sean Brooks

Matthew Sean Brooks, 13, of Star City, passed away February 13, 2022 at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born September 18, 2008 in Little Rock.

Matthew was one of the best souls you could have ever met. He was so kind, loving, sweet, innocent, sassy and stubborn. You couldn’t help but smile when he did. He loved to aggravate everyone just to get a smile out of them. He truly was one of a kind. His favorite things to do were play his PS4, watch Youtube on his phone, and sit outside with the animals and give them lovings.

He loved his family so much. He would always ask, “Momma do you need a hug?” and I would ask him, “do you?” and we would just hug.

Matthew was a 7th grader at Star City Middle School. He didn’t care much for the academic part of school but he loved going and being around everyone else. He always talked about his day and who talked to him. No matter what he went through in his little short life, he always tried to face the day with a smile and positive attitude. He focused on the good and not the bad. He loved to play baseball with South Arkansas Miracle League in Monticello.

He always called Arkansas Children’s Hospital his second home because they always took such good care of him. He always wanted to go by and say “hi” and just give them his big ole smile.

Matthew had three wishes growing up: 1. Run 2. Climb a tree 3. Be in a movie. Now he can do all three.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Lynn French, Gene Brooks, and Virginia Parker.

Survivors include his mother, Hollie French of Star City; father, Keith Brooks of White Hall; two brothers, Dylan Rhodes of Star City and Dakota Brooks of Vilonia; four sisters, Destiny Brooks of Star City, Kassey Brooks of Monticello, Ainsley Brooks and Lauren Brooks, both of White Hall; maternal grandmother, Susan French of Star City; maternal great-grandfather, Elmer (Louise) Byerly of Plantersville; uncles and aunts, Joe (Jessica) French of Woodlawn, Steve (Regina) Brooks of Star City and Tammy Parker of Texas; cousins, Breanna French and Tyler French, both of Woodlawn; and numerous other cousins and friends.
