Mattie Gibson Owen Graves, 84, of Monticello, passed away on March 11, 2016 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
She was a retired teacher’s aid and waitress and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Graves was born October 1, 1931 in Desha County and was the daughter of the late Elihu Gibson and Jennie B. Neeley Harris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Luther Charles “L.C.” Owen; two brothers, Eugene “Jack” Frost and Clarence McKeown; one sister, Mary Loyd Wood; and one daughter, Kimberly Eberlein.
Survivors include her husband, Ray H. “Poppy” Graves of Monticello; two sons, Tony Owen and wife Bridget of Star City and Garvin Owen of Monticello; one daughter, Karen Hayden of Rogers; two sisters, Margaret Brashaw and Barbara Campbell both of Tupelo, MS; seven grandchildren, Damon, Sara, Steven, Chris, Candice, Lauren and Anthony; fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be held on March 14 at 2 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation is March 13 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
