Max Edward Givens, 93, of Spring, Texas, formerly of Warren, died on April 20, 2018, at Vitas Hospice in Conroe, Texas.

He was born on January 26, 1925, in Hermitage and was the son of the late Jonah Audley Givens and Zettie Kirkley Givens.

Mr. Givens was employed by Potlatch Corporation for 44 years. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was a member of the Arkansas National Guard, the U.S. Army Reserve, and retired as a major after 30 years of military service.

Mr. Givens was a member of First Baptist Church of Warren where he served on the deacon board, numerous committees and as a longtime chairman of the ushers. He was a past president of the Warren Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his yard and displaying his Christmas lights.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Bryant Givens; two brothers, Wayne Givens and John Givens; and a sister, Mildred Johnson Huitt.

Survivors are his wife, Gigi Givens; two stepsons, Mark Blackwood and wife Janie and Jay Blackwood and wife Sonya, all of Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 24 at 9 a.m. Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
