Maxine Waldrip Stewart, 77, of Monticello, passed away August 13, 2014 at the John R. Williams Hospice House in El Dorado.
She was born May 24, 1937 in Locust Bayou and was the daughter of the late Algia Franklin Waldrip and Abbie Ardella Parker Waldrip.
Mrs. Stewart was the youngest of six children, including brothers Dewitt and Talmidge; and sisters Mary Sue, Flora and Melba. In 1957 she married Cordell Stewart and raised her family of Lynn, Della and Angela over the next 20 years. She was a retired secretary at W.C. Whaley Elementary School and was a long time member of the Monticello Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dewitt and Talmidge, and a sister, Flora.
Survivors include her husband Cordell Stewart of Monticello; her son, Lynn Stewart of Springdale; two daughters, Della Stewart Paulson of Clarkson, Wash. and Angela Stewart of Monticello; two sisters, Mary Sue Blann of San Angelo, Texas and Melba Dunn of Monticello; and two grandsons, Drew and Cory Stewart of Springdale.
Mrs. Stewart enjoyed church activities, reading, camping, music and spending time with her family and friends. She had a passion for life and was a joy to those around her.
The cemetery committal service will be held August 16 at 10:30 a.m at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello and a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home chapel.
Visitation will be August 15 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
