McGehee, ranked No. 2 in 3A in preseason polls, scored twice in the second quarter to defeat Monticello 12-0 in the Hooten’s Kickoff Classic at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s Golden Lion Stadium.

After a scoreless first quarter, McGehee scored on an 80-yard touchdown run by David Shepard to put McGehee up 6-0 with 9:41 left in the second quarter. The extra point was no good. The game’s final score came on a 1-yard run in the second quarter by McGehee quarterback Marcus Hudson following a 57-yard pass play from Hudson to Davondrick Lison. The 2-point conversion failed.

In the match-up between Hamburg and White Hall immediately following the Monticello-McGehee game, White Hall defeated Hamburg 35-15.
