A McGehee man died Friday, six days after an April 20 vehicle accident on U.S. 65 near Arkansas 138 in the Winchester area where his vehicle was struck by an SUV.
According to an Arkansas State Police preliminary accident report, a Jacksonville man, Shandrick Taylor, 42, was driving south on U.S. 65 in a 2007 Cadillac Escalade when the SUV struck the passenger side of a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Sammuel Reaves, 24, of McGehee, who was ejected from the pickup truck.
Before the SUV came to a final rest, it struck a 1979 International parked in a gravel parking lot. Reaves and Taylor were both injured in the accident and Reaves died on April 26, six days after the accident.
The accident occurred at 3:10 p.m. The weather and roadway were clear at the time of the accident, according to the accident report.
At least 135 people have died on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary figures.
