Allison Robinson, a student at Conner Junior High in McGehee, has been selected as the winner of the Delta Region Young Authors Writing Competition for her short story, The Dream.
Robinson’s story was powerfully imaginative with a coherent story line, according to Mark Spencer, an author and dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Spencer presided over the competition and served as a panelist and workshop presenter at the Literary Arts in the Delta Festival in Greenville, Mississippi where the winner of the competition was announced.
Robinson, an eighth grade student at Conner Jr. High School, received $100 and an award certificate for her winning story.
The Young Authors Writing Competition opened last fall to eighth and ninth grade students in 20 counties in the Mississippi Delta and two counties in the Arkansas Delta.
