Joe Meeks, an AT&T engineer and volunteer fireman with the Monticello Fire Department, is seeking the Democratic nomination for the Ward 3, Position 2 seat on the City Council.
Meeks, a resident of Monticello for the last 19 years, is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he received a degree in Political Science. He has been employed as an engineer with AT&T for more than 12 years, is a member of the Monticello Library Building Committee, and a volunteer fireman with the Monticello Fire Department.
“It’s been said that from those to whom much is given much is expected,” Meeks said. “Monticello has been very good to me; I’m very proud to raise my family here.
“It’s time for the men and women of my generation of Monticellonians to assume the responsibility of leadership and public service,” Meeks said. “If elected, I will do my very best to work hard for the future of my children and all our citizens.”
Meeks and his wife Kristi McKinley Meeks, a 3rd grade teacher at Drew Central, are the parents of two children and are active members of the First United Methodist Church where Meeks serves on the finance committee.
