Melba Jean Murphy, 83, of Crossett, died February 7, 2015 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado.
Mrs. Murphy was a native and life long resident of Crossett. She was a homemaker, a faithful member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and a member of the Ashley County Democratic Committee. She loved her grandchildren, spending time at the camp and the Klassy Kruzers Car Club.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Joe Murphy in 2008; her parents, Burle and Anna Lou Byrd Courson and a brother, Scott Courson.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Joe Frank Murphy; a son, Greg Murphy and wife, Angela; two brothers, Lexie Courson and Charlie Courson and wife, Candice; a sister, Robbie Cannon all of Crossett; five grandchildren, Jonathan Murphy, Ben Murphy, Brad Murphy, Dylan Murphy and Allison Murphy; five great-grandchildren, Bentley, Aiden, Hailey, Spencer and Camryn and a special friend, Lea Culp.
Funeral services will be held on February 10 at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Revs. Eric Hodge and Robin Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroad Cemetery.
Visitation is Feruary 9 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church.
