Melba Waldrip Dunn, 89, of El Dorado, formerly of Monticello, died on January 11, 2017 in El Dorado.
She was born in Calhoun County on January 26, 1927 to Algia and Abbie Waldrip.
Mrs. Dunn was a bookkeeper and secretary for the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Monticello for 16 years. She was always a homemaker, devoted to her family and friends. She was an active member of the Monticello Church of Christ.
She moved to El Dorado in 2015 to live near her daughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur (Dick) Dunn; two brothers De Witt and Talmadge Waldrip; and two sisters, Flora Mormon and Maxine Stewart; and one great-grandson, Jack David Dunn.
She is survived by her son Dr. Dick Dunn (Ellen), of Hot Springs; her daughter, Judy Ward (Dr. Steve) of El Dorado; six grandchildren, Ashley DeMent (Tim) with Mia of Dallas, Texas, Allen Smith (Sandi) with Abigail, Adeline, Mary Allen, and Eva of Atlanta, Georgia, Lara Chesshir (Jay) with Claire Foster (Matt), Will and Sam of Little Rock, David Dunn (Jen) with Lily of Fayetteville, Dr. Jonathan Dunn (Dr. Mandee) with Kya, Henry, and Annabelle of Little Rock, and Nathan Dunn (Lindsey) with Dylan, Grace, and Piper of Centerton, Arkansas. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Sue Blann of San Angelo, Texas and many other family members.
Funeral service for Melba will be held at Stephenson–Dearman Funeral Home, Monticello on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Her grandson, Minister Allen Smith and Minister Paul Mowrer will conduct the service. A private family committal service will be held at Oakland Cemetery prior to the funeral. Family visitation will be one hour preceding the service from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
