Michael Boyd Jones, 65, of McGehee, passed away on September 2, 2015 in Little Rock.
He co-owned and operated Selman Plant Nursery in Eudora and worked for the Boll Weevil Eratication Program. He previously owned and operated the Otasco Store in McGehee.
Mr. Jones was a 1968 graduate of McGehee High School where he played football, basketball and ran track. He attended Southern State College at Magnolia and University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Mr. Jones was very active in youth baseball in McGehee and served as president of the McGehee Summer Baseball Program. He also was a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He loved to hunt and served as the secretary of J.U. Fehr Hunting Club until his death. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in McGehee.
Mr. Jones was born in Warren on May 23, 1950 and was the son of Hattie Lou Johnson Jones and the late Boyd Leslie Jones.
In addition to his father, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Lee Jones.
Survivors include his mother, Hattie Johnson Jones of Dermott; wife, Elizabeth “Priss” Jones of McGehee; a son, Stephen Lee Jones of McGehee; and and numerous nephews and a niece.
Visitation will be held on September 4 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee. Funeral service will be held September 5 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in McGehee with Rev. Joe Head officiating. Burial will be held at McGehee Cemetery in McGehee.
