Michael “Mike” Daniel Herrington, 67, of Crossett, passed away on August 25, 2020, at the Ashley County Medical Center.
Mr. Herrington He was born in Scotia, California, on July 30, 1953, and was a 1971 graduate of Crossett High School. He was a member of the North Crossett First Baptist Church, and the Klassy Kruzers Street Rod Club.
With a servant’s heart, Mr. Herrington served honorably in the United States Navy, was a 14-year volunteer with the Unity Fire Department and a member of the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team.
For many years, he bought and sold timber in the area. He was a member of the Arkansas Timber Producers Association and employed by the Halley Timber Co. He was known by many as a “Jack of all trades”. Among his many skills, he was an excellent mechanic and a perfectionist no matter the project.
Mr. Herrington achieved many things in his life, but most importantly, he discovered the love of Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Daniel Herrington, and Verla Fay Randall Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Martha Miller Herrington of Crossett; his four children, Brooke Crass (Scott), Penny Cockrell (Anthony), Layne Gregg (Debbie), and Chad Gregg all of Crossett; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Adam, and Austin Whisler, Ayden Crass, Caleb Ferrell, Aundi Cockrell, Tara Michel, and Angela and Allen Gregg; one great-grandchild, Amelia Ferrell; two sisters, Linda Herrington Rushing of Crossett, and Kay Alonzo (Ernie) of Little Rock; his stepfather, Billy Wayne Johnson of Little Rock; along with a special friend, George Stagg; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 29, at 2:30 p.m.at the Delhi Masonic Cemetery with Pastor Robin Allen officiating.
